Mental Health

Mental health affects everybody, but can easily be dismissed. There is no shame in admitting that you may need a hand!

The 5 Types

While there are over 200 classified forms of mental illness, the five major categories of mental illness are:

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Mood Disorders

  • Schitzophrenia/Psychotic Disorders

  • Dementias

  • Eating disorders

Mental Health Awareness Week

Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, Mental Health Awareness Week 2019 will take place from Monday 13th to Sunday 19th May 2019. The theme for 2019 is Body Image – how we think and feel about our bodies.

Your Mental

Health

If your mental or emotional state quickly gets worse, or you're worried about someone you know - help is available.

Take The Quiz

We all have mental health. It's reported that nearly two thirds of us have experienced mental ill health at some point in our lifetime and that just 13% of us are living with high levels of positive mental health.

Self Harm

Self-harm is when you hurt yourself as a way of dealing with very difficult feelings, painful memories or overwhelming situations and experiences. Some people have described self-harm as a way to express something or reduce overwhelming emotions, as well as many other things.

ADVICE

If you’ve been diagnosed with a mental health problem you might be looking for information on your diagnosis, treatment options and where to go for support. Our information pages will help you learn more.

Mental health services are free on the NHS, but in most cases you will need a referral from your GP to access them.

If you are at school or college, mental health care may be arranged for you. Read our information on child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).

It is important to recognise that mental health conditions can be successfully treated, and our professional and highly skilled team at Priory are able to provide you with expert advice, support and therapy and, when appropriate, medication that is specifically tailored to suit your individual needs.
