As well as delivering the best possible education, we also have a clinical team who provide care and therapy to benefit the students in our school.
Our clinical team includes:
- Speech and Language Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Psychology
- Access to other types of therapy as required
The Clinical team work with each student, as well as their parents or carers, to agree a support plan which will become part of their school life, enabling them to build on their strengths and increase their resilience. The clinical team and school are supported by a qualified team of Thrive practitioners’.
We aim to provide our students with a safe, caring and nurturing community with clear, consistent boundaries and high expectations. Relationships are at the heart of our approach and are based on sensitive understanding of a young person’s experiences and the areas in which they require more support.
Behaviour is understood as a form of communication and all staff work together to enable the healthy physical, social, and emotional development of each student.

Hello, my name is Holly and I am a therapy assistant. I have foundations in completing my Psychology degree and experience in support work with young people in residential, SEND educational and mental health settings. I am also currently completing my course to become a counsellor. I approach my work here with empathy, patience and a positive attitude and look forward to continually supporting our young people to thrive and reach their potentials.
Hello I’m Immy. I’m the Lead Clinician at WLS and Speech and Language Therapist. I studied and worked initially in New Zealand with children and young people. This gave me experience in inpatient and outpatient care, as well as CAMHs. I moved back to the UK in 2019 where I have predominantly been working in the area of mental health, brain injury neurorehabilitation and management of progressive neurological conditions.
I believe it is vital we have a good understanding of each child’s communication challenges and work together on practical strategies to help them overcome these obstacles, and best access their education.
Hi I’m Eli, I am the Occupational Therapist (OT) at Wessex lodge Schools.
As an OT here my aim is to use my knowledge about physical, mental, emotional and social health and wellbeing, as well as sensory and motor processing to support young people in doing the activities they want and need to do, such as learning and playing. I also use activities to try to promote overall health and wellbeing. The focus of this may range from improving physical ability through to emotional wellness and engagement in a community.
I have previously worked as an OT with people who have Learning Disabilities, Stroke, Neurological conditions and mental health needs. Before I qualified as an OT, I was a Teaching Assistant in a School for Autistic young people in Lancashire.
Hi I’m Sylvia, a Speech and Language Therapist at WLS. Prior to this role, I worked within the SALT team at a specialist college for neurodivergent and learning disabled 16-25yr olds.
